Football Information

***TO REGISTER YOUR CHILD FOR FOOTBALL, THEY MUST BE ENTERING GRADES 2ND-8TH IN THE FALL***

We are looking forward to another great season of football!!  Please read through this completely as it contains important information.

Practice: starts for both football and cheer the first week of August at NHS Memorial Field on West St. and will be from 6-8 pm Mon-Thur.  The older teams may practice on Fridays, your coach will notify you of this. 

Please be at the field no later than 5:30 on the first night to allow time to assemble teams and meet your coaches.  Once school starts practices typically drop to 2 days a week.  Practices are subject to change and each team will be notified by their coach should there be a change.

First week of practice, players will practice in shorts, t-shirt and cleats (no more than 1/2 inch cleats). Uniforms, helmets and shoulder pads will be issued after each player has completed 10 hours of practice. Bring plenty of water, NO GATORADE!!!

 

Please note that practice times and locations may change.

Pick-up: please be at the field at 7:45, practice ends promptly at 8:00 pm unless instructed otherwise by your coach. No player will be left unattended at the field.  Please be on time.

Cancellation: if practice is cancelled we make every effort to post it on the web at least 15 minutes before practice starts or you will receive and email from your coach.  Often times we make a last minute call so keep checking the website. There are frequent passing storms in August and September and usually we can wait it out and still practice.

Games: There is one game a week on either Saturday or Sunday.  The first game will be on Labor Day weekend.  Away games tend to be earlier in the day (unless it is a Saturday game). The game schedule will be posted late July.

Equipment and Uniforms:

Football players must practice 10 hours before any equipment is issued. If you miss practices you will continue to practice in shorts and a t-shirt until each player has reached the 10 hour requirement. All paperwork must be submitted before equipment is issued.

Players start practice wearing shorts, a t-shirt and cleats. After 10 hours players will be provided with a helmet, chin strap, mouth guard, pads, home and away jerseys and game pants. You provide practice pants, an athletic supporter, practice jersey, red football socks and football cleats (not more than 1/2 inch).

Please do not wear the new game pants to practice - players will be removed from practice and asked to change.

Concussion Testing: A concussion test is required for any player in 5th grade or older who did not take the test last year (more information and test dates to follow)

Volunteers: we always need volunteers for fundraising, concessions, game day markers, MPR keepers etc. If you are interested in volunteering please email your name, contact information and what you would like to help with to NYFCsecretary@gmail.com.

Concession Stand: Each family is asked to do at least one shift in the concession stand per season.  There will be a sign up sheet in the consession stand.

 

The Turf Field

We cannot jeopardize our privilege with the town to use the field. These rules will be strictly enforced. Thank you for your cooperation!!

  • Positively no cleats on the track.

  • Water only - no Gatorade, coffee, juice or any other beverage will be allowed on the field.

  • No dogs or pets on the field or track (this includes the back practice field!)

  • No strollers, skateboards, rollerblades, bikes, or scooters allowed on the track or field.

  • No alcohol or tobacco

    American Youth Football (AYF) requires that each player is certified.  Below is a list of the required documents for each player to be certified. Thank you for your effort and cooperation with the collection of these documents.

    All required paperwork is due by first week of practice and this year no equipment will be issued until all paperwork is complete!!! 

    Please have it ready to bring to the field

     

    The following items are required:

  • Registration Fee if you did not pay online

  • AYF Participation Tracking and ID Card Page 1 Signed and initialed

  • AYF Participation Tracking and ID Card Page 2 Signed and initialed

  • Emergency Medical Treatment Consent

  • Medical Clearance signed by participants Doctor OR Annual Physical that MUST be dated after 1-1-17

  • Original Birth Certificate with a raised seal AND a copy of the birth certificate for us to certify and keep. You will get back the original. 

  • Copy of Final 2017 Report Card, name, date and school year must be visible

  • Image Release

  • Waiver and Release of Liability

  • Code of Conduct

  • Concussion Acknowledgement

  • Concussion Test for any player 10 years or older

  • Absentee Form (signed not dated)
